Introduction:
The Lucy Show is the second sitcom of queen of comedy Lucille Ball, running from 1962 to 1968, for a total of 6 seasons. 2 episodes from season 1, all but one from season 5, and a few from season 6 have fallen into the public domain, and have been released on many cheapo DVDs. This review features one of them.
Episode guide:
Both of the episodes on this set are from season 6. The first is "Lucy Gets Trapped", where Lucy takes a day off work to go on a shopping spree, and must hide it from her boss Mr. Mooney (Gale Gordon). The second and last episode on the set is "Lucy and the French Movie Star", where Lucy tries to get a French movie star to open an account at Mr. Mooney's bank.
Video and audio quality:
The video and audio quality is what you'd expect from a public domain set (i.e. not very good). Video has many film artifacts, like dirt, dust, and grain, and sound is scratchy. The upside is that both episodes are uncut, running 25 minutes each.
Special features:
The set's lone special feature is a bonus episode of another wonderful sitcom, The Jack Benny Program. The episode is "How Jack Found Mary", in which Jack reminices how he found Mary Livingston. The episode is uncut, running around 25 minutes.
Final thoughts:
I'd recommend skipping this set, as both these episodes can be found online, or in better quality on CBS's season 6 DVD.
